Pharmacist Manager for Ambulatory Care

 

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics has an opening for an Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Manager.  The individual chosen will practice in a dynamic and professionally challenging service in one of the nation’s best hospitals.  The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is a 684 bed comprehensive, university, teaching hospital.  The Department of Pharmaceutical Care consists of approximately 100 pharmacists and 120 support staff and provides care to acute, ambulatory and home care patients.  The Department also manages the Pharmacy Department for two community hospitals in Iowa.

 

Ambulatory Care services are provided from three pharmacies supported by clinical pharmacists in many of our clinics.  The pharmacies are extensively automated.  In addition, pharmacists manage patients in a system-wide Anticoagulation Case Management Service.  The Department offers a specialized residency in Primary Care. The Manager also participates in department-wide and UIHC management activities. 

 

A successful applicant for this position will be licensed as a pharmacist in Iowa.  2-3 years of pharmacy experience or completion of an ASHP accredited residency is required.  Demonstrated commitment to adopting and promoting principles of affirmative action and equal opportunity, as well as experience promoting a diverse environment. Management experience in a large medical center pharmacy department is preferred, but we encourage ambulatory care practitioners who are interested in management to apply.  A Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree is required.  An advanced degree (MS or MBA) and satisfactory completion of an accredited residency or equivalent experience are desirable.
