Pharmacy Practice Specialist –
UI Student Health Service
The University of
Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) one of the nation’s leading
healthcare
facilities is seeking a Pharmacy Practice Specialist for providing
comprehensive pharmaceutical care services within a primary care clinic
practice. UIHC is
located in Iowa
City, a University
community offering many recreational and cultural activities and an
exceptional
school system.
The
Department of
Pharmaceutical Care has a staff of 100 pharmacists and 120 support
personnel. They
provide comprehensive
pharmaceutical care to acute and ambulatory patients supported by a
network of
seven satellites, two central pharmacies, and three ambulatory
pharmacies. Ambulatory
and inpatient drug distribution is
highly automated with 2 outpatient robots, an inpatient robot, a
network of 45
patient care unit based medication dispensing units and a bar code
medication
administration system. The
department
has active medication use evaluation and outcomes management programs,
serves
as a primary teaching site for the College of Pharmacy
and has a
large residency program.
The
Pharmacy Practice Specialist will have responsibility to provide
pharmaceutical
care services to UI students in a pharmacy within Student Health
Service. Other key
duties include serving as the
primary preceptor of UI College of Pharmacy students on rotation in the
pharmacy; administrative and financial management support; and
participation in
performance improvement and staff development programs.
Applicants
should
have a Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy. Completion of an ASHP
accredited pharmacy
practice residency or two year’s of related specialized experience is
necessary. Current
pharmacist licensure
in Iowa
is
required. UIHC
