Vivian B. Johnson, Pharm.D.
is the Board Liaison to the ABHP Council on Professional Affairs. Dr. Johnson is the Director of Pharmacy Services at Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas, Texas. She received her undergraduate B.S. degree in pharmacy from Florida A& M University in Tallahassee, Florida, a post graduate doctor of pharmacy degree from Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Dallas. She directs the activities of pharmacists and technicians serving the medication and education needs of patients seen throughout a large teaching healthcare system. Dr. Johnson is known for her ability to build and manage a highly productive team and implement new programs, which improve patient care throughout the healthcare system. She was chosen to participate in the Executive Management Fellowship programs at Wharton School of Business and the Advisory Board.
She is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and serves as clinical assistant professor at the University of Texas, Austin, College of Pharmacy. She serves as the chair of the Medication Use Cycle Subcommittee and Team Leader for the Parkland’s Medication Management Team. Dr. Johnson served as a member of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Institutional Review Board (IRB) for approximately 10 years. She has been employed with Parkland for over 20 years.
Her practice interests include medication safety, process improvement, clinical practice systems, clinical research, and operations management.
